Sir Gangaram Hospital conducted Live Operative Workshop on Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery

Oct. 13, 2011 - PRLog -- Dr. Praveen Bhatia had conducted a live operative workshop on Laproscopic Mini Gastric Bypass surgery.  Workshop was started by Dr. Suviraj John.He welcomed and started the live workshop in the presence of team of the other doctors. Dr. Robert Rutledge was the Guest Faculty of this workshop. He came from Las Vegas, USA to give the lecture on Gastric Bypass Surgery. The objective of this live workshop was to introduce the new technology of the surgery system. More than 200 of the doctors were participated in that workshop.
Dr. Praveen Bhatia, Chairman, Institute of Minimal Access, Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, Sir Gangaram Hospital, continued the live workshop on the Mini-Gastric Bypass surgery. The purpose of this workshop is to familiarize the delegates’ with the technology, cost effectiveness and simple techniques and skills required to carry out conventional laparoscopic procedures in innovative ways by basic port reduction and mini-gastric bypass without compromising medical outcomes.
In this surgery we dissect the stomach and make the pouch of 30ml-50ml & leave the other part of the stomach as it is. After that one dissected part of the small intestine is attached to the stomach and the other part of the intestine is attached to the intestine itself. In this way the bypass surgery forms. This surgery is known as Mini-Gastric Bypass Surgery.
At the end of the workshop Dr. Bhatia told us that after this surgery patients recover very soon without much effort. This purpose of this surgery is to reduce the weight & obesity. After this surgery patient must take special care of his food. For next 2-3 weeks of the surgery patient have to take the liquid diet & later patient can intake the complete diet.
This has been done through a series of lectures as well as live demonstrations by renowned National & International Faculty. They also welcomed doctors to share and showcase their videos of minimal access surgeries.

Dr. Sudhir Kumar Kalhan, Dr. Mukund Khetan, Dr. Suviraj John, Dr. Afsar Ali, Dr. Vivek Bindal, Dr. Mathura Das, Dr. Alok Rath, Dr. Rahul Singh were involved in this workshop and make it successful.
