Oct. 12, 2011 - PRLog -- Jacksonville, Florida –  Sunrise Aviation announced recently that the FAA has approved its use of the Redbird Advanced Aviation Training Devices (AATDs) in their FAA approved courses given at the Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ).  FSCJ recently acquired four Redbird LD AATDs for use by their students.  Sunrise Aviation is the flight training contractor for FSCJ at Cecil Airport in Jacksonville, Florida.

Sunrise Aviation will utilize the Redbird AATDs in all of their approved pilot training courses including the private pilot, instrument rating, commercial pilot, and multi-engine rating courses.  Not only will the training devices reduce the costs for the college students but they will significantly enhance the training experience for the students while increasing safety at the same time.

Florida State College at Jacksonville has equipped the Flight Simulation Lab at their Aviation Center of Excellence at Cecil Center with four Redbird LD simulation devices.  FSCJ already had three other training devices available in their Flight Simulation Lab including an advanced Flight Training Device for turbo-prop pilot training and another AATD for training pilots on the use of the Garmin G-1000 glass cockpit.

The Redbird LD has 200 degree wrap-around visuals and realistic flight controls.  FSCJ has two Redbird LDs configured as Cessna 172 Skyhawks and two configured as Piper Arrows.  All four simulation devices include Garmin GPS avionics with both G530 and G430 installations.

Effective September 1, 2011, Sunrise Aviation was awarded the contract to provide pilot training for the Florida State College at Jacksonville students.  FSCJ offers an Associate Degree in Professional Pilot Technology and now offers several bachelor’s degrees as well.  As a public college, FSCJ is able to offer one of the most economical degrees available for students interested in pilot training and aviation.

Sunrise Aviation has been in business continuously since 1983 with its main base at the Ormond Beach Municipal Airport in Florida.  The satellite at Cecil Airport in Jacksonville, Florida was certified by the FAA early last month.  Currently, the school offers training at the Jacksonville satellite in Cessna 152s and Cessna 172s with additional training available in a Piper Warrior, Piper Arrow, and Piper Seminole.
