Fundraiser supports the vulnerable children and families of Five Acres

Oct. 12, 2011 - PRLog -- (ALTADENA, Calif.)— The 24th Annual Invitational Golf Classic, held on Oct. 3rd at Annandale Golf Club, netted $152,000 to support abused and neglected children and their families served by Five Acres. The 2011 Golf Classic co-chairs were Ryan Dietz and Casey Adams, and Reaume Financial Group was the tournament presenter. Keyes Audi provided a chance to win a 2011 Audi A8 and was the official hole-in-one sponsor. The first place winning foursome was Bill Hayden, Christopher Hoshek, Matt Jiggins, and Willy Marsh from William R. & Virginia Hayden Foundation.

The tournament concluded with an awards dinner and live auction which featured special guest and former Lakers player Jerry West who shared an inspirational story about his own relationship with an abusive father. West reflected on a turning point in his life when he stood up to his father. Long periods of depression led him to become competitive and ultimately drove him to greatness. West’s story was followed by an 18-year-old’s account of his own abusive parents and how placing himself in the care of Five Acres has dramatically changed his life.
