PRLog - Oct. 19, 2011 - MINNEAPOLIS -- Julie Ann Segal, President of Metropolitan Interiors in Minneapolis, comments on the art piece "Dreidel" by artist Elena Flerova. This piece is just one among a vast collection of historical events, religious traditions, and fables. Much of her art depicts Jewish traditions and other mythology. A Russian acquaintance of Julie Ann's shared some of Elena's artwork with her. Julie Ann thought it was beautiful and could see the life in each piece.
Since Julie Ann is of the Jewish faith she was drawn to the "Dreidel" piece. Julie Ann recently found herself playing Dreidel with her 8 year old son and how much this reminded her of his enthusiasm while playing the game. She had a hard time getting him to stop playing Dreidel, which is very amazing with how simple of a toy it is compared to much of the other technologically advanced games out there. Julie Ann commented, "I love the expressions of the boys taking the game very seriously and the girl watching over her brothers play while working on her own crafts. The beauty of life in the artwork and essence of the game is captured."
Elena Flerova's technique of capturing light and shadow expresses both mood and movement in her artwork. It truly depicts wonderful personal expressions and is very representative of a frozen moment in time. A dramatic effect is portrayed by her technique especially through the use of color, style, and light. Her artwork is very detailed, not only in physical elements, but also with feeling and understanding of human expression.
