Participants enjoyed an hour-long performance by the Legacy Girls, a full spread of appetizers with a cocktail hour, children’s games, raffles with prizes and live entertainment by WERV 95.9 FM The River.
Rubber ducks were sold for $5 each. The Duck Race started at 5 p.m. with a parade lead by the National Guard and members of the Fox Valley Marines. National Guardsmen provided the ducks with a personal escort to the pond, while the Aurora Fire Department used a fire hose to assist the rubber ducks in racing across the Alden of Waterford pond. The owner of the winning duck won $500 cash.
“Each year, we hope the Duck Race can help someone who has been diagnosed with leukemia,” says Nora O’Gorman, administrator.
