Unbeknownst to this Indiana boy, one moments spontaneity would act as a catalyst on that journey. As the owner of a wine lounge, appropriately named VOX, CJ interacted with the musicians who appeared on his stage, including The Killers tour percussionist, Rob Whited. One night, CJ asked to pick up one of the guitars and caught everyone off guard when he began to sing and play. Rob commented, "Dude, I didn’t know you played, we need to put something together." Two rehearsals and two weeks later, he was on stage for the first time playing for a packed house. CJ threw his arm behind him and leaned into the microphone, prompting Rob to observe, "Wow, there’s something natural there."
CJ found his early success in several lucrative business ventures and with discipline, dedication and drive, became a millionaire entrepreneur.
The demise of his business as a result of the unstable economy, compounded by the effects of divorce and a costly custody battle brought CJ to what, for most, would have been a breaking point. He juggled being a single father of an infant and a toddler, while continuing towards several business opportunities.
CJ chose to accept the Universes tap on the shoulder to realign him with the path from which he'd strayed. He set out on a Taoistic journey, alone, incommunicado and with no direction, in order to reconnect with the Universe and himself. He returned 10 days and 2,000 miles later on a clear path of manifestation and creation, choosing to create the life that he was born to live.
CJ has since been writing with some of the best in Nashville including Ray Stephenson ("Red River Blue" by Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert), walked the red carpet performing with Robin Thicke, has an EP in production with a team whose numerous credits include The Dixie Chicks, Willie Nelson and Jack Ingram, is developing a Country Music Concert Series in Las Vegas and writing a book about his physical, spiritual and quantum journey. His first single "Heart Like A Wheel" was released Oct 1, 2011.
Sometimes in life, coming full circle is a long way to go to get to the place from which you started, creating the life that you are born to live.
Be sure to catch CJ and Ray Stephenson on Fox 5 (KVVU TV) Thursday, Oct 27, 2011 between 4 & 6 pm, then later that evening at ARTIFICE, 1025 S. First St. Las Vegas, NV 89101 (in the arts district) at 10 pm. The event is free and open to the public.
