“We wanted to participate in being better citizens of the earth and mature consciously as a company,” says Kabi Solomon, INI’s Director of Marketing and Development. “In doing so, we can hold others accountable for their business practices and encourage them to be considerate of the environment we so much depend on.”
INI has made improvements to its own business practices on its path to green. The company reduced the number of work trucks it had on the road, cut energy waste on job sites, and eliminated a large office space, narrowing down to a warehouse spec where energy and operations expenses could be reduced.
The company also began exploring green programs that would help it further its own initiatives, enrolling with the GBB to begin the process of green business certification. The GBB is a nationally‐recognized, third‐party program providing certification for businesses that follow environmentally responsible practices.
“The engagement and support from the GBB program was up-to-date, helped with marketing, and seemed to be laid out in an easy to understand way on the internet,” says Solomon.
Focusing on sustainability has allowed INI to reduce its carbon footprint and cut costs, a “win-win” situation, says Solomon.
“We hope others are encouraged by our efforts,” says Solomon.
