TCP Launches New CFL Light Bulb Range in the UK

TCP introduces new range of energy efficient CFL light bulbs that mirror the light quality of incandescent bulbs and have low mercury content

Oct. 11, 2011 - PRLog -- Technical Consumer Products (TCP) has launched a brand new range of CFL (Compact Fluorescent Light) bulbs to the UK market.

The company is expanding its UK operations in a bid to grow its share of the international light bulb market. In the US, TCP http://www.tcpi.eu provides 70% of all CFL light bulbs sold, supplying some of the country’s biggest retailers, wholesalers, distributors and independents.

Two CFL  ranges have been launched in the UK by TCP:

Cool Daylight CFL
This compact bulb design is almost the same size as a traditional incandescent bulb. It gives off a crisp, cool, full-spectrum white light that is perfect for detailed work environments. The quality of the light from this energy efficient bulb helps to reduce eyestrain by mimicking natural light indoors.

Full Spiral CFL
This bulb provides 10,000 hours of warm white light. The compact bulb is the same size as a traditional incandescent bulb, and fits all conventional light sockets. Unlike older energy efficient bulbs, TCP’s Full Spiral CFL offers a quick start, reaching full brightness within seconds.  Its brightness is also maintained for the life of the bulb, thanks to a TCP-patented titanium dioxide coating that prevents blackening of the glass.

Both ranges have low mercury content – 50% lower than many other CFL manufacturers.

Jessica Parker, Product Marketing Manager at TCP, said: “To improve perceptions of energy saving light bulbs, we are striving to address the shortcomings of CFLs by continuously improving the performance and quality of our CFL bulbs. It means that TCP bulbs deliver all the cost-saving benefits you’d expect from CFL bulbs, but with no compromise on the quality of light emitted.”

TCP’s CFL bulbs deliver the same amount of light as an ordinary incandescent bulb, but use about 75% less energy, making them cheaper to run. What’s more, CFL bulbs generate approximately 75% less heat than incandescent bulbs, which can emit up to 98% of their energy as heat.

TCP is so confident in the quality of its CFL bulbs that, uniquely in this market, it offers a one-year warranty on every bulb.

Not only are CFL bulbs cheaper and more efficient to run, they last around ten times longer than conventional bulbs, with an average lifetime of around 10,000 hours, or ten years. These benefits combined mean that a CFL bulb can save around £40 in energy costs over its lifetime.

The TCP range of CFL light bulbs is now available to UK wholesalers, retailers and distributors through TCP’s UK-based sales office in Northampton.  For more information, visit http://www.tcpi.eu
