Oct. 10, 2011 - PRLog -- Five summer shows at the Randolph Street Market Festival attracted nearly 40,000 Chicagoans and visitors this season. Even with some rain on two of the weekends, promoter Sally Schwartz says the numbers coming for vintage finds is up over 2010.

"We couldn't be more pleased by the quality of the merchandise and strength of the dealers at the Randolph Street Market Festival this summer," says Schwartz. "That is reflected in the gate numbers, which continue to increase."

Some of the summer highlights included a flash mob dancing to the tune of September by Earth Wind and Fire, and in that month the first-ever Editor's Choice Awards and an exhibit of photographs by the recently discovered Vivian Meier.

"These highlights demonstrate that we go the extra mile to make the Randolph Street Market Festival fun, profitable and memorable," Schwartz says. "We were particularly fortunate that editors from Apartment Therapy, Time Out Chicago, Michigan Avenue Magazine and others were on make the show awash in blue ribbons indicating their favorite product picks.

General Manager Sarah Jones says not only did Chicagoans delight in the quality of the merchandise take away countless finds from the event, but dealers likely saw an increase in sales.

"We're attracting a dealers with a keen eye who come knowing with some certainty what customers are seeking," Jones says. "Dealers at the Randolph Street Market this year did an exceptional job of matching supply with demand."

Also new to the market this year were free furniture delivery in downtown Chicago (with a minimum purchase), plus a fancy food market featuring chocolates, cakes, breads, spices, olive oils and salsa and a global goods bazaar delighting Chicagoans with crafts and artisan goods representative of Chicago’s ethnic neighborhoods.

While the outdoor markets are closed for the season, there are more buying and selling opportunities at the Randolph Street Market Festival including Modern Vintage Chicago Fall Fashion & Jewelry Explosion on October 22nd and 23rd and the Holiday Market on November 19th and 20th.
