Defamation: Libel And Slander In American And Jewish Law

Oct. 9, 2011 - PRLog -- The South Florida Center for Jewish Ethics presents “Defamation; Libel and Slander,” the Fourth lecture in the American Cases Through the Eyes of the Talmud series. The series is a continued effort of the Center to educate the legal profession in South Florida about Jewish law and ethics in American life.

The lecture will be given by instructors Professor Michael Richmond. and Rabbi Akiva Zweig.  Professor Richmond, a tenured professor at Shepard Broad Law Center of Nova Southeastern University, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Where he teaches (among other courses) Defamation Privacy & Publicity.  Rabbi Zweig is currently the director of outreach at Talmudic University in Miami, Florida. He graduated from Talmudic University with a Masters in Talmudic Law in 1995 and then continued on in the Faculty teaching in the University Talmudic Law and Jewish ethics. He has lectured extensively in Jewish Ethics across America and is a much sought after speaker.

The South Florida Center for Jewish Ethics was founded in 2010 as a place where professionals and lay people can study ethical issues in the areas of the law, medicine, and business with clear guidance from a Jewish perspective.  The center offer lectures, classes, and conferences that bring together medical experts, legal scholars and ethicists of international stature to dialogue with rabbinic and Talmudic scholars.
