Chef Andre Carthen To Host Benefit For Desert Cancer Foundation In Palm Springs

Oct. 9, 2011 - PRLog -- Studio M Salon and Spa (http://www.StudioMSalonandSpa.com) is celebrating their grand opening on October 24, 2011 starting at 5:30pm  in their new location in the Smoketree Commons. Celebrity Host, Andre Carthen (Design Ambassador for Kathy Ireland Worldwide and Celebrity Chef) will be emcee at this benefit for Desert Cancer Foundation during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Chef, and host for the evening, Andre Carthen, aka the fitness chef; is featured in Kathy Ireland’s book “Real Solutions for Busy Moms: Your Guide to Success and Sanity,” and also in JANET JACKSON'S - #1 New York Times Best Seller - book "True You". Through these books, and his media appearances, like the TODAY SHOW, Chef Andre has helped many find healthy ways to eat and change their lives, with recipes, nutrition plans and cooking tips.

“The recipes I developed with Ms. Jackson are focused on helping people find a path to wellness,” says celebrity chef Andre Carthen. “Desert Cancer Foundation is helping local people deal with their care and wellness today and for the future.”

At Studio M, we live with the impact of breast cancer every day,” says owner Jarrod Sipe, “Our Lead Stylist, Miguel Mejias lost his mother to breast cancer as well as so many of our friends and clients. We are happy to take this opportunity to help raise awareness and support this important cause.”  

The evening will include the official ribbon cutting, a silent auction and raffle prizes, all to raise funds going to Desert Cancer Foundation. Another way to support DCF is to purchase a gift card from Studio M Salon and Spa; 25% of all gift card purchases on October 24 for the grand opening will go directly to Desert Cancer Foundation.

Desert Cancer Foundation provides local residents with access to screening and diagnostic testing for breast cancer, provided they are uninsured, cannot afford testing and live in the Coachella Valley. The income for participants to qualify is the same as the State of California's Breast Cancer Early Detection Program. However, the Fund does not have an age restriction.

Attendees at Monday’s event will also introduced to each of the other consumer conscious products selected for Studio M clients including INOA, ammonia-free hair color. PRIORI, considered the anti-aging authority made with organic and wild-crafted ingredients. SpaRitual a vegan line of nail products used in the manicure and pedicure areas. And they offer mineral skin care makeup from Jane Iredale which is recommended by many doctors.
Studio M Salon and Spa grand opening is $20 suggested donation at the door.
