Set in Miami, this first entry into a four book series introduces newly promoted detective Cara Evens, who is devastated by the murder of her partner. As Cara investigates to find the killer, she uncovers more than she bargained for in a world of vampires and otherkin--- Houston's word for other paranormal characters. Along the way, Cara will wage her own internal battle with secrets and unplanned attraction.
With numerous vampire books populating the genre, what makes Blood Drive stand out, Houston says, is the strength of the main character, a badass female protagonist with a no-nonsense attitude.
"I've always looked at the female lead characters in books and wished they'd been stronger women," Houston says. "A woman’s existence shouldn't revolve around whether the main character winked at her. In ‘Blood Drive,’ Cara is her own dynamic woman," she adds.
Houston has hit the mark in combining a strong character with a multi-layered storyline, says Corey Michael Blake, Publisher, Writers of the Round Table Press.
"I've been working with Traci on 'Blood Drive' for a number of years and am off the walls about this book," Blake says. "Traci has an uncanny ability to combine vampire and witch fantasy with cop drama and the right amount of romance and sex appeal to create an absolutely thrilling ride."
