Oct. 7, 2011 - PRLog -- The health department employees of Lancaster were attacked by mold infestation in the first floor of their old building.. The second and third floors are now used by the employees.

The Miller building which is used by the employees is already a century and a half years old and it is almost at the end of its life. The department is spending a costly amount on routine maintenance annually and the officials are now planning to relocate and lease a new building for good.

Mold infestation is said to be invisible in the Miller building but the growth is believed to be already widespread. Though it is already used for storage, a reputable mold inspector still checked the area and found out that the infestation there is already in a very bad state.

“LANCASTER — Mold and humidity problems have forced health department employees to vacate the first floor of the Clarence E. Miller building at 1587 Granville Pike in favor of the second and third floors.”

““It’s moldy and damp on the first floor, and the humidity is pretty bad,” acting director Larry Hanna said. “The employees were concerned, so we moved them. We’re now using the first floor for storage.””

“He said the mold is not particularly visible, but water leaking behind the walls has caused it to form.”

“The action comes as the county is looking to lease a building for the health department. The Fairfield County commissioners had utility director Tony Vogel check out the former Daymar College building on Sheridan Drive as a possible health department site.”
