The International Federation of Yawara-Jitsu, has just released it’s first self defense application for the IPhone. In this interactive self-defense course, a basic self-defense protocol will be taught. It explains, among other things, how to keep a distance, protect oneself against a blow or a grip and what to do when attacked from behind and on the floor.
The application has a lite version “Defend yourself” and a full version “Self defense” and is available in English, Spanish and Dutch.
Some examples of the animations of the app can be seen in YouTube:
Enrique Perez-Carrillo, Technical Director of the International Federation of Yawara-Jitsu, states that knowing how to defend one self is a necessity: “having notions of self defense is like knowing how to swim: having some basic knowledge allows a person to keep afloat and not to sink; in self-defense happens the same thing. You need to know how to react in a dangerous situation. “Knowing how to defend oneself, can save one’s life”, he says in the introductory video.
The International Federation of Yawara-Jitsu, has developed different self defense learning projects, like gender abuse prevention and ant-bullying programs.
