PRLog - Oct. 6, 2011 - PASADENA, Calif. -- The Center for Community and Family Services, Inc. that, among other programs, administers Head Start and Early Head Start Programs at ten locations in the San Gabriel Valley, will no longer manage the Head Start programs as of Friday, October 7, 2011. Beginning on Saturday, October 8, 2011, the Community Development Institute Head Start (CDI HS) will operate the Head Start programs in Glendale, Pasadena and Altadena on an interim basis.
Center for Community and Family Services will continue to administer its State child development programs, Housing program and other support programs that serve more than 8,000 families in 21 cities within Los Angeles County each year. For more than 40 years, Center for Community and Family Services has supported self-sufficiency for children and families with a commitment to building sustainable communities.
The Center for Community and Family Services has served as the grantee for this Head Start program for over 25 years. After much deliberation by the Board and Management, Center for Community and Family Services has decided to relinquish its management role. The Center Community and Family Services Head Start Program is fully compliant with all Head Start performance standards. In the last Federal Review, the program was found to be 100% compliant with all Head Start Performance Standards.
A startup team will be on-site at the Colorado Blvd main office October 11-21, 2011 to work with Center for Community and Family Services and the former Head Start and Early Head Start staff will implement the transition of staffing, facilities, and transportation. CDI HS will administer the program on a temporary basis during the time that the federal Office of Head Start is going through their process of identifying a replacement grantee.
All parents, vendors and employees have been notified of these changes, and will be contacted by CDI Head Start about timelines and plans for reopening classrooms. It is expected that all children currently served will continue to be served after a short break, with services resuming on or near October 17, 2011.
