While Beingjing Urges Aid for Small Firms, Executives Gear up for China Leaders Forum 2011

Oct. 6, 2011 - PRLog -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao urged stronger financial support for cash-strapped smaller businesses as the inflation is hurting China’s small and midsize business. Meanwhile, a hundred of executives and professionals gear up for Golden Networking's China Leaders Forum 2011, "How American Companies Can Plug into the Chinese Rocket-Propelled Economy?", October 7, in New York City. China Leaders Forum 2011 will examine the challenges facing American companies that want to grow and expand their business in China, the opportunities to find Chinese investment partners that can provide a much-needed capital injection while opening the Chinese market, as well as important considerations to look at so that the high-powered Chinese rocket doesn’t crash anytime soon.

Small and midsized business account for 80% of China’s jobs and more than half of the country’s economic output. While the recent data still shows growth in China’s economy, those small and midsized business are now suffering from funding squeeze because of China’s move to curb lending and slow the economy. Those businesses are not able to get access to funding from China’s biggest banks as major state-owned enterprise while banks are reluctant to lend to those businesses and charge them higher rates considering them to be riskier. Some of the small manufacturers have already shut down because of funding problems.

Mr. Wen visited Zhejiang Province on Monday and Tuesday. He stated that small businesses should have priorities for bank credit and enjoy more tax preferences. He also encouraged the banks to set targets for loans to small companies, reduce the cost of credit for them, and allow them a higher nonperforming loan ratio. To prevent the funding shortage from spreading, Mr. Wen also called for better regulation of private lending.
