Oct. 6, 2011 - PRLog -- St. Louis MO: Today OCI released the latest in a long line of commercially supported versions of the The ACE ORB (TAO). Version 2.0a is a major release reflecting a significant milestone in the life of this widely used open source implementation of the OMG Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA). The OCI distribution of TAO has been the gold standard of commercially supported, open source ORBs for over 12 years. TAO is widely used in mission critical infrastructure. The availability of high quality support options from an established software engineering company is a major factor is its continued selection for projects. As Dr. Moshiri the CEO of OCI pointed out, "CORBA is still the only multi-language, multi-platform solution for request/response distributed systems. The real-time extensions of CORBA by the OMG added substantial value and relevance in today's world of always-on, low-latency responsive systems. TAO led the way in real-time, enterprise scale middleware."

This version of TAO is the eighth commercial release, since the first in 1999, when open source was still a novelty or viewed with suspicion. OCI's Distribution of TAO is freely downloadable from The ACE ORB project web site. OCI offers other TAO related products and services, such as high quality documentation, training classes and support, both ad hoc and 24 by 7.

The latest version runs on Android the latest, fastest growing operating system today. The wide range of platforms supported is testimony to the robustness of its ACE abstraction layer and the demands of its user base who continue to stretch ACE and TAO's integration capabilities into meeting new platform demands.
