Oct. 6, 2011 - PRLog -- San Pedro,CA  Being an owner of a dog, cat, bird, fish, pony, pot belly pig, or just about any live animal requires a great deal of responsibility.  But that is all about to change with the introduction of TomoPets.  These tiny, cute, living critters are the rage for school aged children across the country.  They fit easily into any child’s backpack, purse, or pocket, and are ready to entertain at all hours of the day or night.  Plus the neatest thing about TomoPets, they don’t need to be fed or cleaned up after.  Imagine a typical household that no longer has to argue over whose turn it is to feed or clean up after their dog or cat.  Those days are a thing of the past.

“The idea for TomoPets came about when the husband and I decided that our children were not quite ready to handle the responsibilities of owning a puppy or kitten”, states co-creator Lisa Chin. “We just couldn’t envision having our oldest daughter Alexie handle the responsibility of a live animal at this stage in her life, since she hasn’t quite shown that she is responsible for her other personal possessions such as her books, musical instruments, jackets, shoes, and other items that typically go missing on a weekly basis, so we came up with TomoPets as a stepping stone to see if she could be responsible for a living creature that only needs water and an ideal temperature setting to survive.  So far so good.”

Each TomoPet comes with a certificate of guardianship so that each TomoPet owner has the responsibility of ownership.  Plus they get to register it directly on an online registry for public record.  In addition, to own a TomoPet, each owner has to abide by a T.E.S.T.  This is an acronym for Talk, Educate, Support, and Time for their pet.  Talk breaks down to whether someone has spoken to their TomoPet that day.  Educate is when an owner explains the right and wrongs to their TomoPet.  Support their TomoPet when they want to try out new things.  Lastly, Time is for quality time that each TomoPet owner spends with their TomoPet, which encourages much outdoor activities and less television.  Thus each TomoPet owner needs to ask “Does their TomoPet pass the TEST?”

“This is just another socially responsible company that my husband and I created”, states Chin.  “Plus we will eagerly donate 5% of the profits to various children’s organizations such as Boy Scouts of America, Boy’s and Girls club, Big Brother/Big Sisters, among others.”

TomoPets are virtually maintenance free.  They provide endless amounts of entertainment and TomoPet owners get to view a creature of Mother Nature right in the palm of their hands.  They make great gifts and could be a stepping stone to a larger animal in any child’s future.
