Oct. 6, 2011 - PRLog -- Norwalk, CT -- The Fairfield County Chapter of The American Marketing Association (AMA) opens its new season with a special event to expand and strengthen each member’s connections with a presentation on “First Impressions: Is What You See What Is Really There?” by Karyn Gallant and a speed networking session.

Founder of Gallant Consulting Group (www.gallantconsultingny.com) and a Certified Executive Coach with 20 years of experience in executive coaching and career development, Gallant will kick off the meeting with a short discussion on how we respond by habit to visual and emotional connections when meeting someone for the first time.

The majority of the event will then be devoted to a speed networking session, which combines “speed dating,” the round-robin approach to meeting potential suitors first developed in the late 1990s, and the more recent concept of business networking.  Speed networking is designed to broaden each participant’s connections by increasing their exposure to other members by sharing their professional backgrounds and business goals.

Attendees are requested to bring to the meeting a one-page bio describing who they are, their experience, an example of their greatest success or value generated and what they would like other individuals to remember most about them.  After each 10-minute, one-on-one session, attendees will move to different individuals, and this will continue until all attendees have both presented and listened.

The meeting will take place at the Sheraton Four Points, 426 Main Avenue, Norwalk, CT, on Thursday, October 13, 2011, from 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm.  For this special season-opening event, the cost at the door is $10 for AMA members and $20 for non-members.  Cash or checks only; no credit cards are accepted.  Attendees will enjoy complimentary hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar.  Seats are limited so early registration is highly recommended.  Please RSVP by Monday, October 10, 2011, to AMA.RSVP@hotmail.com.
