Oct. 6, 2011 - PRLog -- Action on African Women’s Foundation-Ghana (AAWF-Ghana) was established as a national non-profit, non sectarian voluntary charity organization since 2006 through the efforts of Mr. Isaac Otchere, a development practitioner, together with some individuals of diverse backgrounds to provide services and support to disadvantaged and vulnerable persons, especially women, in the rural and urban areas of Ghana.

As a community-driven and participatory oriented organization, it works through community youth and women’s networks and other interest groups to develop talent, skills, employment opportunities, and economic sufficiency in promoting quality of life and well-being among the target populations.

This means that AAWF-G involves its programs around the vision of local community empowerment functions by means of participatory roles at every level of material, physical and spiritual decision-making thus promoting AAWF-G’s values of emotional and self development and mental discipline on the basic focal point in accelerating proper development.

The AAWF-G is currently undertaking this programme:
•   Social Investment Fund Project: AAWF-Ghana has been sub-contracted by the Social Investment Fund, an organization with the mission of reducing and subsequent eradication of poverty in deprived communities in Ghana, to undertake its Social Capital Investment Support Project. This project is one of four components under the Urban Poverty Reduction Project. The mandate of AAWF-Ghana in undertaking this project is to support Social Inclusion and integrated socio-economic infrastructure and maintenance for the betterment of livelihoods in poor urban communities.

Over its five years of existence it has also engaged in the following:
•   Climate Change: As part of an effort to associate our organization with the UN’s fight on climate change as a means to promote a better environment, AAWF-Ghana, has engaged itself with the replanting/reforestation of 15.16 acres of land, depleted by small scale mining activities in the Twifo  Heman Lower Dankyir district of the Central Region of Ghana. It will interest you to know that their effort is paying off as the once degraded land looks uber-green at the moment.
•   Gender Equality/Human Rights: AAWF-Ghana has been at the fore front of advocacy initiatives toward gender and human rights for women.

AfriVol is the brainchild of a young Ghanaian couple, who grew up with a passion for volunteer work. We particularly work with development-oriented not-for-profit organizations in need of human resource assistance, and therefore exist with the role of supporting third world development.

We believe in high standards of morality and truth. Therefore, what we promise, we deliver! We work in several sectors; including Health, Architecture, Agriculture, Education and Human Rights.
