"Occupy Wall Street" Needs Christian Support

Occupy Wall Street movement may be secular, but its fight for economic justice is a core Christian principle. Good jobs, keeping people in their homes, addressing oppressive student loan debt, and better regulating banks are part of its mission.

Oct. 5, 2011 - PRLog -- "Occupy Wall Street," according to Bishop Paul Jesep, author of 'Credit Card Usury and the Christian Failure to Stop It,' has started a national conversation that is long overdue.  Unlike the nationalist Tea Partiers the Occupiers are patriots."

"Occupy Wall Street is advancing a discussion," said the bishop, a member the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church-Kyiv Patriarchate, "about whether an economy should work for the people or the people should work for the economy.  Foreclosures, bank bailouts, crippling student loan debt, tax loopholes for the rich, and poorly regulated collection agencies, among other things, are fueling this protest.  The people work for the economy as indentured servants.  It might be legal, but it is morally wrong."

Bishop Jesep added, "The two party system has failed the common man and woman.  It's time that Christians of conscience help better address social and economic injustice."
