Food, Sweat and Teas - UK cookery school launches new ‘Fitness and Flavour Retreats'

Oct. 5, 2011 - PRLog -- Leading cookery school the Devilled Egg Kitchen Academy has launched two unique residential retreats for health conscious foodies.

The new 3 and 4 night Fitness and Flavour Retreats are the brainchild of Michelin trained Academy Director Barbora Stiess and themed around enjoying cooking and eating great food whilst looking after one’s body.

Under Barbora’s guidance, guests will enjoy three hands-on daily cookery classes to create delicious guilt-free meals using super healthy ingredients such as grains, fruit and lean meats, before enjoying their creations.

After a bit of relaxation between classes, whether in the swimming pool or sauna, guests will replace aprons with trainers for some fitness sessions led by personal trainer Emma Morris. On the menu is everything from Nordic Walking, circuit training and running, all of which will take advantage of each hotel’s stunning surroundings.

Despite all of this healthy goodness however, there is some calorie down time planned thanks to a selection of tea workshops and wine, coffee and chocolate tastings throughout the stay. One of the evenings will also consist of a lavish six-course meal, complimented by wine tasting and karaoke and dancing for the enthusiastic.

According to Barbora, the retreat is all about participants “learning new skills that harness fine dining techniques and great ingredients to produce simple, healthy dishes for everyday enjoyment at home. This mix of cookery classes, exercise and healthy consumption, with a dash of indulgence of course, will leave guests recharged and armed with culinary tips to help achieve a balance between enjoying great food and staying healthy!”

Park Hall is a beautiful stately country house set among 132 acres in picturesque north Worcestershire countryside. Built in 1710 is a Grade II listed Queen Anne residence, the luxurious Hall, complete with indoor swimming pool, is the perfect setting for the first Devilled Egg Kitchen Academy retreat.

November's retreat takes place at the Saunton Sands Hotel, famed for its cliff-top location overlooking miles of sandy white beach. Guests will be free to enjoy the hotel's swimming pool and gym throughout the retreat, while activities including Nordic Walking, circuit training and of course runs along Saunton Sands beach with Emma will provide full body workouts.
