The prestigious AfrAsia Golf Masters 2011 at Four Seasons Golf Club Mauritius at Anahita

Oct. 5, 2011 - PRLog -- AfrAsia Bank Limited announced its sponsorship of the AfrAsia Golf Masters 2011, a unique and prestigious golf event which will be held at Four Seasons Golf Club Mauritius at Anahita, from 13 to 17 December 2011. The tournament, which also appears on the calendar of the Fédération Française de Golf, is worth total prize money at €75,000. Other major sponsors of the event are Anahita, Air Mauritius, Canal Sat Maurice, Four Seasons Golf Club and the MTPA.

The AfrAsia Golf Masters is the professional golf tournament organized by Canal+ Events which will bring together the twenty best golf players of the Allianz Golf Tour (French Professional Circuit) and ten specially invited guest players of the European Tour. The game is played on stroke play (each shot counts). On 15th and 16th December, an original pairing (one professional and one amateur) is established in an Alliance format. Moreover the competition is preceded by two PRO-AMs, where professionals and amateurs will be mixed in an opening round scheduled on the 13th & 14th. The Pro tournament will be held on Saturday 17th Of December 2011 which will be opened to the public.

The organizers are expecting golfers from Mauritius & abroad for the competition, amongst which are world renowned PROs who have already confirmed their presence. To-date these include:

Gregory Havret said in an interview: « J’avais promis de jouer à nouveau cette année un tournoi de l’Allianz Golf Tour. Je tiendrai ma promesse et serai présent a l’AfrAsia  Golf Masters, à la mi-décembre, pour ce tournoi qui va permettre aux 20 meilleurs joueurs de l’AGT (Allianz Golf Tour) de se mesurer à des joueurs invités. Il me tarde d’y être. Parce- que ce sera véritablement une semaine de fête. Et parce-que je pourrai aussi mettre des visages sur des noms de jeunes joueurs dont je ne connais pour l’instant que les résultats. J’aimerais me rendre plus souvent sur les épreuves, mais la densité du calendrier du tour européen m’en empêche. J’ai envie de les voir jouer, de parler avec eux, de connaître leur manière de voir les choses. Je suis pressé de rencontrer ceux qui, un jour, prendront ma place, pour que nous fêtions ensemble cette fin d’année ».

Designed by Ernie Els, the Four Seasons Golf Club, Mauritius at Anahita, is a 7,440-yard, 18-hole, par-72 championship course with large fairways and five sets of tees. Six stunning oceanfront holes culminate in a final shot that is among the most spectacular in the world. Built to USGA standards, it is the first of its kind in Mauritius. Carefully woven into the tropical sanctuary, the course is set against lush mountains and fringed by the vast crystal-clear lagoon.
