By: Jesse Garner Flippin’ Pizza is asking fans to play a vital role in the fundraising efforts by ordering AJ’s Kids Pie, named after Star 94.1 FM’s on-air talent, AJ Machado. Fans can also lend their support by bringing in new and unwrapped toys to any of Flippin’ Pizza’s four North County locations as part of the toy drive. “The Flippin’ Pizza brand was built on its commitment to high-quality pizza and giving back to the community,” said Patrick Farley, CEO of Flippin’ Pizza. “We are excited to be partnering with ‘AJ’s Kids Crane’ for the second year. By simply ordering a pie and donating toys, we can brighten the lives of children who are battling illnesses and undergoing treatments. It’s also an opportunity for Flippin’ Pizza fans and the North County community to come together and support a wonderful cause.” On Friday, Nov. 4, in the parking lot of IKEA in Mission Valley, ‘AJ’s Kids Crane’ will host a celebration event culminating the toy drive. For the tenth year in a row, Machado will be lifted 60 feet in the air on an 8-foot by 10-foot scissor crane where he will eat, sleep and live until the 106,000 toys are collected. Flippin’ Pizza fans fear not this is only temporary and no pie was harmed in the renaming. AJ’s Kids Pie will continue to feature the same delicious ingredients as the Knockout pie: pepperoni, meatballs, mushrooms and garlic. As with all Flippin’ Pizza pies, AJ’s Kids Pie will be hand-tossed, with no added oils, no added sugar and no high fructose corn syrup.
