A Grown-up Fieldtrip to the Farmers Market with Chef Jon Wolf of The Ellis’ Terrace on Peachtree

ATLANTA – The Ellis Hotel, downtown Atlanta’s only green-certified boutique hotel, and its restaurant, Terrace on Peachtree, announce an exciting new event series, Farm to Terrace Excursions. The excursion includes a field trip to Peachtree Road Farmer’s Market with Executive Chef Jon Wolf and personalized farm-to-table lunch at Terrace. The excursions take place every Saturday through the farmer’s market season for $49 per person; reservations available by calling (678) 651-2770.

Participants will meet Chef Wolf at the Peachtree Road Famers Market (2744 Peachtree Road) at 9am on Saturday mornings, to then be toured around the market meeting farmers, learning about Georgia produce, and tasting a few of Georgia’s finest fresh foods. Guests will pick out their favorite ingredients that Chef Wolf will then create into a true farm-to-table lunch back at Terrace.

“We had such amazing response to our Farm-to-Terrace dinner in April, we wanted to continue to give the public an inside view to the farm-to-table philosophy, and of course, to Terrace,” says Chef Wolf. “It is so important for people to know where their food comes from, and how in Georgia, we are so lucky to have amazing purveyors just miles away from us – and we can get all sorts of wonderful produce at our local markets.”

About Peachtree Road Farmers Market:
The Peachtree Road Farmers Market was founded in 2007 as a joint project between Gina and Linton Hopkins (of Restaurant Eugene, H&F Bread Co., H&F Bottle Shop, and Holeman & Finch Public House) and the Cathedral of St. Philip. The farmers with whom the Hopkins' work were in need of a centrally located weekly market and the Cathedral, located near the center of Buckhead, had space in its large parking lot and the desire to bring the community together around local food.

The Market has grown from 12 vendors in its first year to 70 vendors in 2011, making it the largest producer-only market in metro Atlanta. Producer-only means that everything at the Market has been grown, raised, or made by the seller, ensuring fair prices for both the vendors and the consumers. The Market staff visits member farms and kitchens to make sure its consumers are getting the highest quality produce and products. Vendors range from farmers, meat and dairy purveyors, chefs/prepared food specialists and artists.
Now in its fifth year, Peachtree Road Farmers Market is a leader in the community. The Market accepts Georgia EBT/ SNAP benefits (food stamps) and doubles the value through our partnership with Wholesome Wave Georgia to help make healthy food more accessible to all. Those who want to use SNAP benefits should visit the information tent at the Market to process their card.
