KIDS FOOD ADVENTURE: New Healthy Eating app for iPhone and iPad

It is designed to make learning about healthy foods fun. Colorful photos of each food help kids identify and recognize new foods. Seasonal monthly food suggestions pinpoint the ideal time to try new foods. Fun facts, health benefits, and useful information on cooking, buying and preparing each food are written in a parent/kid-friendly manner. Color-coded stars help kids track their progress and rate the foods they’ve tasted. Reward stickers encourage kids to give new foods a try!

Kids Food Adventure was dreamed up by two moms, Daniela Devitt and Maia Neumann. Both have a passion for cooking and feeding their families healthy foods. Devitt lives in the heart of Bucks County surrounded by working farms, and Neumann lives on the French Riviera where food is an art. Together they set out to make it fun to introduce kids to good food. They teamed up with technology partner Haymachine Entertainment to create an interactive experience for kids eager to embark on a tasty adventure.

“When I moved to France I was surprised at how sophisticated children’s meals were in schools and even more impressed that my kids came home raving about blue cheese and beets. It made me consider that maybe we don’t give our kids’ palettes enough credit.” says Maia Neumann.

Kids Food Adventure includes foods from all major food groups that are delicious, healthy and sometimes exotic! You’ll find more familiar vegetables like broccoli alongside new grains such as quinoa, healthy snack foods like dates and almonds, and more challenging foods like mussels.

“Kids love stickers! Rewarding kids for trying healthy foods with colorful stickers is a great way to pique their interest. They also love sharing their opinion, which is why we incorporated a star rating system. Kids will be eager to let parents know if they thought the food they tasted was Yummy, Yucky or So-so.” says Daniela Devitt.

Kids Food Adventure introduces children to food in its natural form and educates them about the nutritional value of the foods they eat. There are no snack packs or packaged foods on this adventure. Kids will find that nuts, fruits and whole grains can make for great snacks. Parents will find that monthly seasonal suggestions will help to spice up their grocery list.
