The deal, for an undisclosed amount, represents a perfect match between two successful Welsh dragons that both started their lives in Cardiff.
Under their new owners, Coffee #1 will carry on as normal and be in a better position than ever to grow and build on the fantastic reputation it has established over the last decade.
Since opening its first store in the Welsh capital in 2001, Coffee #1 now has 15 outlets across Wales and the South West and earlier this year won Coffee Bar Chain of the Year at the prestigious Cafe Society awards for the second year running.
Its commitment to fantastic coffee, well-trained staff and unbeatable customer service has won Coffee #1 a passionate following both in-store and online.
James Shapland, Managing Director of Coffee#1, said: “We are delighted that Coffee #1 has become part of the Brains family and are confident that under their control the business will go from strength to strength. I would like to thank all our staff for their hard work and help in growing Coffee #1 into the well-loved and highly successful business it is today."
Scott Waddington, Chief Executive of Brains, added: "We are well placed to continue the fantastic success of Coffee#1 with our complementary hospitality skills to a well-established, highly-regarded and award-winning retail operation. We have been very impressed with the excellent standards of product quality and service and were attracted to the significant development potential for Coffee#1 going forward."
