SEM Link partners with Youth Speaks Inc and other San Francisco Bay Area nonprofits to host 1st Annual STEMposium as a part of its Life is Living Festival on October 8, 2011 at West Oakland Public Library

 
PRLog - Oct. 4, 2011 - OAKLAND, Calif. -- On Saturday, October 8, 2011 from 11:00 am- 4:00 pm at the West Oakland Library, SEM Link is co-hosting the 1st Annual STEMposium as a part of the Youth Speaks Inc Life is Living Festival.  This STEMposium is result of collaborative efforts between Youth Speaks Inc, Science, Engineering and Mathematics Link Inc (SEM Link), Center for Sustainable Schools and Cities ,  Ankh Marketing/Isis Project, Oakland Public Library and the Oakland Unified School District Office of African American Male Achievement (AAMA). The purpose of the STEMposium is to engage the community at large, with an emphasis on youth, in discussions about how STEM impacts their community and can be used to make changes in their community. There will also be opportunities for youth to engage in hands on STEM activities at the event. For more information visit the link below:

The STEMposium is the commencement of a targeted outreach to engage and encourage youth in STEM; with a special emphasis in areas such as environmental science, urban gardening and agriculture, transportation and urban design and others that can impact their communities.  These activities will include engaging youth in STEM research, hands on STEM activities, STEM career exploration and other events that each of the partner organizations have planned . “I’m excited that SEM Link is a part of this collaborative of San Francisco Bay Area nonprofits hosting the STEMposium ” says Tokiwa T.
