According to the event organizers, CSWeek.com, the annual event recognizes the importance of customer service and honors frontline service professionals across all industries. This year, government agencies are taking advantage of the week to reinforce their commitment to customer service. For example:
* New York City's Customer Service Group coordinates the participation of more than 20 agencies in this fun and festive week where agencies recognize the important contributions of frontline staff. The highlight of the week is the Customer Service Excellence Awards Ceremony where the mayor personally gives each agency winner their Customer Service Excellence Award.
* In Jackson, VA, the Department of Veteran's Affairs hosts educational activities for their staff and customers. These include a customer service fair covering the range of services provided by the department, unit-based training and a department-wide customer service town hall meeting and training.
* In Hertfordshire, England, the County Council is taking advantage of this opportunity to share information on its success in improving customer service by moving many activities online for enhanced speed and citizen convenience. Councillor Chris Hayward notes that, "We are working hard to broaden the ways in which we can support residents to access information and services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week online.... It is important to Hertfordshire County Council to provide customer satisfaction to our residents and providing them with flexible, cost effective methods of accessing many of our services is a big step in the right direction."
* And, in Port Lavaca, TX, city staff will celebrate their third event, as Finance Director Scotty Jones notes, "We keep making it bigger and better each year for our frontline staff and citizens to raise awareness of how important it is for us, as a city team, to serve our taxpayers with great customer service, whether it is with a friendly smile or timely follow-up call."
