Defending champion Mohammed Al Dhaheri won the DD2 125 class race in the opening round of the 2011/12 UAE Rotax Max Challenge at Al Ain Raceway yesterday. Over 70 drivers participated in six classes last night. After suffering a mechanical failure earlier in the day, Al Dhaheri found himself starting from seventh on the grid, but following a lightning start he found himself tailing Sheikh Hasher Al Maktoum and Maurits Knopjes. Al Dhaheri made two blistering moves to take the lead, and would remain there to take the win.In the Max Masters class, former champion Andrew Fuller led to begin his season with victory. In second place was reigning champion Arnaud Bouf with Paul Woodfield in third. In the Honda Challenge, Hussein Umid Ali converted his pole into a close win over Sam Zian with Alexandre Silanine completing the podium.
