Casting Call for BIG ARTS Herb Strauss Theater on Sanibel October 15

PRLog (Press Release) - Sep. 30, 2011 - BIG ARTS Herb Strauss Theater invites local talent to come out for an open casting call Saturday, October 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., to audition for roles for its upcoming theater season. Please bring a headshot and résumé, if available. If auditioning for a musical role, please bring 16 bars of appropriate music and an outfit in which to dance. All roles may require a cold reading.  
   
Roles:
   Betty Jean (Winter Wonderettes, December 16-31): Seeking female, age 20-35, with strong bass and big belt. Character is self-anointed clown of all-girl singing group.
   Ensemble (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, January 13-February 11): Seeking multiple male and female performers with strong musicianship and dance ability.
   Principal Cast (Das Barbecü, February 17-March 17): Seeking male, age 25-40, with excellent comedic timing and ability to convincingly sing Country/Western. Baritone.
   Chet Pazinski (Over the Tavern, March 23-April 21): Seeking male, age 30-55. Character is husband/father with tough exterior but good heart living with family above tavern.
   Rudy Pazinski (Over the Tavern, March 23-April 21): Seeking male, age 10-14. Character is precocious boy with great sense of humor.
   Georgie Pazinski (Over the Tavern, March 23-April 21): Seeking male, age 12-15. Character communicates only through gestures, grunts and occasional words.
   Eddie Pazinski (Over the Tavern, March 23-April 21): Seeking male, age 13-17. Character is sporty boy struggling with adolescence.
   Annie Pazinski (Over the Tavern, March 23-April 21): Seeking female, age 13-18. Character is eldest sibling and struggles with insecurity.
   Sister Clarissa (Over the Tavern, March 23-April 21): Seeking female, age 50-70. Character is strict, elderly nun teaching in a Catholic school.
   
Rehearsals begin two weeks prior to each show’s opening date and typically run Monday through Saturday. Rehearsals for Over the Tavern will be flexible within reason to accommodate school schedules.
   
BIG ARTS Herb Strauss Theater is a non-equity professional regional theater. Performers will receive a weekly salary or stipend. All Sanibel tolls are reimbursed for duration of contract.
