PRLog - Sep. 29, 2011 - ALTADENA, Calif. -- (ALTADENA, Calif.)—On Sept. 17th, Free Arts for Abused Children teamed up with Disney to co-sponsor a Free Arts Day for the abused and neglected children of Five Acres. The “Around the World” art workshops took place at Five Acres’ main campus and included mask making, global jewelry making, and Batik t-shirt making. Disney volunteers used art as a bridge to connect with the vulnerable children of Five Acres, dedicating their morning to facilitate various art workshops for the children and their families, and ended the day with a pizza lunch.
Free Arts serves not only children in foster care, but also those who are homeless and at-risk because of factors such as poverty, substance abuse and community violence. Recognizing the healing power of art in the lives of children, Free Arts conducts art workshops to give children the gift of creative expression.
