For over 10 years the Consort has thrilled audiences with the acoustic perfection of their instruments and the masterful musicianship of the ensemble. Fans of the Consort will find more excitement this season as Kevin Connolly joins the group for the season as well as the October East Coast Tour. Connelly’s resume includes stints as concertmaster for the Pacific Symphony and the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra, as well as violinist with the Santa Fe Opera Orchestra.
The Hutchins Consort plays on the eight scaled violins of the violin octet designed and built by famed luthier Dr. Carleen Hutchins. The instruments are the first successful attempt to create an acoustically balanced set of instruments that can sound truly like violins across the entire range of written music. With instruments ranging from the tiny treble violin, tuned one octave above the standard violin, to the gigantic large bass violin, tuned one octave lower than a 'cello, the Hutchins Consort produces an astonishing pallet of sounds.
The ensemble will present two opportunities for audiences to enjoy the “The Killer Bs” concert. The first will be presented on Saturday, October 8 at 7:30 PM at the Neurosciences Institute, 10640 John Jay Hopkins Drive in La Jolla, CA.
The second on Sunday, October 9 at 3:00 PM St. Mark Presbyterian Church, 2200 San Joaquin Hill Rd, Newport Beach, CA.
Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for seniors and student and can be purchased at the door or online at www.hutchinsconsort.org.
