Fortune Ridge at Southeast & Putnam Arts Council to Host ‘Live Art at the Castle’ Sat., Oct. 22

Fortune Ridge at Southeast is teaming up with the Putnam Arts Council to present “Live Art at the Castle,” a fun-filled afternoon of painting, storytelling, live music and more for the entire family.

The free event will be held Saturday, October 22 from 12 noon to 3 pm at the magnificent Stone Castle and grounds of Fortune Ridge at Southeast, 150 Deans Corner Road, Brewster.  

The event will feature budding and professional artists of all ages who will create art “en plein air” with the stunning castle and beautiful grounds as inspiration and subject matter. Artwork will also be displayed on the grounds and in the historic Stone Castle. A “Fortune Hunt Tour” led by some of the region’s leading storytellers will take children throughout the Stone Castle to gather “treasure” that can be used in an art project A pianist will be on hand to play Broadway show tunes by George Gershwin, Richard Rodgers and others. The Stone Castle was once the home of famous music publisher Max Dreyfus, who discovered and promoted Jerome Kern, George Gershwin, Richard Rodgers and Cole Porter.  Free refreshments of apple cider, doughnuts and other fall treats will be served.
