Sept. 29, 2011 - PRLog -- Warrenton, VA- Rock climbing, balancing on beams and testing upper body strength on suspended cables have become popular between-class pastimes for Highland School’s Lower School students. The activities aren’t part of any new class or program; rather, they are exciting features on the new playground that opened last week at the independent, co-educational day school located in Warrenton.

Lise Hicklin, Highlands’s Lower School director, presented the idea for the outdoor recreational expansion to the Parent Association for the group’s annual "wish list" two years ago. Last week, the wish became a reality.

"The playground is one of the biggest hits we’ve had in the Lower School since our new building opened last fall," Mrs. Hicklin noted. "It was made possible by the generosity of our families."

The playground the latest in a series of notable enhancements at the School and fulfills a need for safe, activity-encouraging play for the children. Highland added a Humanities/Technology wing to its Upper School, and completed an entirely new Lower School building. The School is currently in the process of redesigning and renovating their Middle School.
