Follow on Google News | Peterman Heating & Cooling, Inc. Technicians to Offer Furnace Tune-Ups for “Bring the Heat"Local HVAC service technicians will volunteer this Saturday and perform free clean and checks for families on fixed-incomes to ensure heating equipment functionality and safety.
This will be the second year the Peterman service technicians will be participating in the program. These technicians volunteer their time, trucks, and expertise to ensure these deserving families are able to heat their homes adequately. When asked about why he enjoys volunteering his time for this program, Kenny Head, a Peterman technician, remarked, “I think about the kids and the elderly. I certainly wouldn’t want anything to happen to them because of something that could have been prevented with a furnace tune-up.” During a furnace tune-up a technician performs a number of diagnostic tests along with making sure dirt and debris are cleaned out of the unit. One of the most important tests the technicians perform is a carbon monoxide test. When fuel is burned to create heat in the home, carbon monoxide is produced as a byproduct. Carbon monoxide is most dangerous because it is colorless, odorless, and tasteless. There could be a leak and a person could be unaware they are being exposed to the harmful gas. Bob Herron, another Peterman technician participating in the program, commented, “Carbon monoxide detectors are a good safety measure, but it is imperative to have a trained technician perform a test on your unit to be completely sure your furnace does not have a leak.” Peterman Heating & Cooling technicians perform a carbon monoxide test on every furnace they tune-up to ensure the unit is not leaking and the home is safe for the homeowner. There are a number of things a homeowner can do throughout the year to ensure their heating and cooling system is functioning properly. When asked about what homeowners can do to maintain their heating performance, Marty Horsthemke, another Peterman technician, explained, “Changing the furnace filter is a simple maintenance step that can improve your indoor air quality and help your system run more efficiently.” For more information or to schedule your furnace tune-up this fall please visit http://www.petermanhvac.com or call at (317) 859-4270. # # # Peterman Heating and Cooling, Inc. is a local HVAC company that has been meeting the heating and cooling needs of the central Indiana community since 1985.
