He is clinical professor of radiology and surgery at Florida International University’s Herbert Werthein College of Medicine. He also is professor of radiology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, a position he has held for 23 years. A pioneer of numerous less-invasive endovascular therapies, Katzen has been a national site principle investigator for multiple clinical research trials for aneurysms, carotid artery disease and peripheral artery disease. He has published extensively in medical journals, textbooks and other scientific literature, and he has presented lectures throughout the world. He also developed the use of the “live-case” The Julius H. Jacobson II MD Award for Physician Excellence is presented annually by the Vascular Disease Foundation in recognition of outstanding contributions to physician education, leadership, or patient care in vascular disease.
