Darragh MacAnthony, Peterborough Chairman has no complaints with Portsmouth Posh result

No matter as a Posh side hanging on for dear life under severe second-half pressure at Portsmouth stunned the home side with a winning goal with virtually the last kick of the match. Darragh MacAnthony, Chairman of Posh is delighted.

Sept. 28, 2011 - PRLog -- Referee Pat Miller looked all set to blow the final whistle when Posh cleared a corner, but he allowed Tunnicliffe to accept George Boyd’s pass inside his own half and storm towards the home penalty area leaving several toiling pursuers in his wake.
His left-foot shot was goal-bound anyway but helped into his own net by back-tracking Pompey striker Erik Huseklepp. It was a stunning finale to a tremendous game and celebrated as such by the buoyant Posh squad with their manager in their dug-out.

=========================
It was harsh on Pompey who had fought back twice to draw level and looked the more likely winners. Only a couple of fine saves from Paul Jones and some committed blocking kept the home forwards at bay in the final half-an-hour, a commitment exemplified by Craig Alcock’s fine goalline clearance 20 minutes from time.
This was a match which belied much of what Posh have seen in the Championship this season. It was wide open from the first whistle and contained further proof of Lee Frecklington’s re-emergence as a fine attacking midfielder.
Frecklington must be thanking his lucky stars he made that ‘sideways’ move a few years ago. There are now three divisions between Posh and his old club Lincoln and while ‘The Imps’ were losing at Barrow last night, Frecklington was completing his own transformation from also-ran to key man with two goals in the opening 21 minutes at a ground that has seen far better days.
Indeed Fratton Park is the Madonna of football grounds, one that needs a lick of paint to show it at its best, but is still capable of creating a wonderful noise.
The Pompey fans were in good voice even when falling behind twice to a Posh side who had picked up just a solitary point on their travels this season. The home fans even joined in the laughter directed at their own keeper Jamie Ashdown who had the sort of first half that forced the press to check for Scottish ancestors.
Frecklington’s 20-yard strike in the fourth minute after one of many fine surges from Mark Little and a neat lay-back by Paul Taylor was passably struck, but should never have squirmed through Ashdown’s fingers.
The keeper also spilled a tame George Boyd effort and passed the ball straight to Taylor at one point, but he had little chance with Frecklington’s second strike, one that soared into the roof of the net after excellent persistence from Boyd and a short pass by Emile Sinclair.
In between Posh fell asleep after clearing a free-kick allowing Huseklepp to burst clear into the penalty area. Huseklepp, who sounds like a Bond villain, sent a shot across goal that Gaby Zakuani volleyed into his own net when there was no danger behind.
Zakuani surprised many who heard the pre-match press briefing by taking his place in the starting line-up. The club’s iron man has seen more needles in recent weeks than the cast of Trainspotting.
Posh ran rings round Pompey at times in a first half that was pleasantly open. The home side fielded lumbering defender Tal Ben Haim at left-back which must have made Little’s eyes light up, but they played more passing football than teams normally associated with Steve Cotterill.
Benjani missed a half-chance at the near post, Huseklepp couldn’t take an opportunity similar to his earlier positive contribution and Boro-born David Norris failed at the far post as home pressure increased as time passed.
That trend continued after Benjani expertly turned in Joel Ward’s nine minutes into the second half.
Boyd and Sinclair saw half-chances fly wide, but little else was seen of Posh as an attacking force until Tunnicliffe’s lung-bursting last-gasp run.
