Linium Optimize (www.linium.com), HP Elite partner and HP's 2011 ITSM Implementation Partner of the Year, combined team building with bikes for charity. In this rewarding team building event, Linium Optimize teams, armed with wrenches and enthusiasm, raced to construct the ultimate human-powered, no-gasoline-needed rocket:  a children’s bicycle. This extraordinary event infused the Linium Optimize team conference with energy to create a feeling of immense good will and a sense of meaning, as it can be tough for many impoverished families to afford the cost of food and rent, let alone luxuries like toys and bikes. Bicycling helps children build coordination and self-esteem while providing a wonderful source of exercise.
The Linium Optimize team split into 6 groups, with each group worked diligently as a team to build 2 bikes - one for a girl and one for a boy.  The activities included correctly answering trivia type questions to buy the bicycle parts, putting the parts together, and decorating them with festive items like balloons and streamers.  The final product included a commercial produced by each group and presented in front of the entire group while being judged by a panel. In the end, 12 children from a local Albany area Boys and Girls Club came to take home their new, finished, brightly decorated bicycles.
