Hurricane Irene struck the United State’s east coast on August 28th, causing significant damage and leaving many towns underwater. Schoharie County, located just north of Linium’s headquarter in Albany, suffered great damage when the Schoharie creek rose to unprecedented levels, flooding homes, schools and businesses, sweeping away vehicles, and destroying everything in its path. In an area that knows minor flooding all too well, Irene brought the worst the town has seen since 1996. Over 40% of the homes in Schoharie have now been condemned.
With all of the significant damage that was caused, relief from insurance and FEMA will not come close to covering all that is needed. The people of Schoharie are in desperate need of help as winter approaches. If you would like to provide financial assistance for relief efforts in the area, please consider giving to one of the following organizations:
The Schoharie Recovery Fund OR Schoharie County Community Action Program
