Waterbury, CT Mayoral Debate to be Hosted by Waterbury Regional Chamber October 12

A Waterbury, Connecticut Mayoral Debate and luncheon will be held on Wednesday, October 12 at the Villa Rosa Ponte Club in Waterbury. Hosted by the Waterbury Regional Chamber, the debate will be between the current three mayoral candidates.

Sept. 28, 2011 - PRLog -- Waterbury Regional Chamber President and CEO, Lynn Ward, announced that the Chamber will host a Waterbury mayoral debate and luncheon on Wednesday, October 12 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at the Villa Rosa catering facility in Waterbury. Incumbent Mayor Michael J. Jarjura (R) will debate with Democratic candidate, Neil O’Leary of Waterbury, and Independent candidate, Alderman Lawrence V. “Larry” De Pillo for the elected position of the Mayor of the City of Waterbury.

The Public Policy Committee of the Waterbury Regional Chamber  (WRC) is coordinating the October 12 debate and luncheon being sponsored by Post University in Waterbury and the “Republican-American” newspaper. The Committee serves as the leading advocate for businesses throughout the 14 towns encompassing the Greater Waterbury Region. Responsibilities of the Committee include review of legislation at both the state and local levels to educate and alert members of the Waterbury Regional Chamber on issues affecting the business community.

Don McPartland with the law firm of Secor Cassidy & McPartland, PC in Waterbury, and chair of the Public Policy Committee, explained, “This Committee also prepares our Chamber’s legislative and municipal agendas. Week to week, we act as a liaison between our members and our Chamber’s Hartford-based lobbyist, Armando Paolino of Halloran & Sage Government Affairs, LLP in Hartford.”

McPartland commented, “We are hosting this mayoral debate three weeks before the November 8 election date to provide our Chamber members, and the Waterbury community at large, an opportunity to hear what each of the candidates propose for the future of the City of Waterbury. It is an unparalleled opportunity to interact with these candidates in a business arena that will be highly-impacted by the results of the mayoral race of 2011.”

The Waterbury Regional Chamber (www.waterburychamber.com) represents over 1,100 businesses in the Greater Waterbury region including Beacon Falls, Bethlehem, Cheshire, Middlebury, Naugatuck, Oakville, Oxford, Prospect, Southbury, Thomaston, Waterbury, Watertown, Wolcott, and Woodbury. It is one of the largest Chambers in the State of Connecticut.  

The October 12 debate and luncheon will be held at Villa Rosa Ponte Club, 380 Farmwood Road in Waterbury. Reservations are required by Wednesday, October 5. Costs are $35 for Waterbury Regional Chamber members and $50 for non-members. Fee for a table of ten (10) is $400 which includes company signage and priority seating at the luncheon.
