By: Sterlite Industries India Limited (SIIL) Sterlite has spent Rs 1.5 lakh for distributing the notebooks. Evening study centres are created with an objective to increase the pass percent of students and reduce the school drop outs in Tuticorin district. Students right from class one to class twelve are attending the evening study centres. These students are guided by highly qualified teachers. Sterlite’s other initiatives to promote education include presenting scholastic excellence awards and providing scholarships to encourage students from villages to pursue higher education. The corporate also extends support by setting up evening study centres, organising capacity building programmes and providing assistance to improve the infrastructure of the schools.
