Sept. 28, 2011 - PRLog -- Elegant Hotels prides itself on its wonderfully varied accommodation and dining options. All of the five properties within the portfolio offer one-of-a-kind dining experiences for guests to enjoy in an inspired island setting. Now with the recent appointment of Marco Cromer to Senior Executive Chef of the Elegant Hotels Group, the hotel collection is set to further improve its culinary excellence with an emphasis on sourcing local Bajan ingredients.

To enable guests to experience the best that Elegant has to offer, Elegant Hotels has recently re-launched its unique Taste of Elegance dine around program, inviting guests at its five resorts to explore its sister properties – Colony Club Hotel, Tamarind Resort, Crystal Cove Hotel and Turtle Beach Resort.  Each hotel also offers fun and engaging themed dinner events – many complemented by the island beat of local musicians – making a meal under the stars a celebration of global cuisine. As an added bonus, a water-taxi service is available for those eager to explore the lunch options exclusively at Elegant properties located on the west coast.

The Laguna Restaurant at the family-friendly Colony Club Hotel specializes in continental and seafood specialties in a covered, open-air setting overlooking tropical gardens, lagoon pools and the ocean beyond. During October half term, Colony will offer a special activities program which will be centered around local Bajan culture with a visit to a local market where guests can experience the best Barbados has to offer in arts, crafts, dance and music. An extensive Bajan buffet will be available to guests and the little ones will be able to create special Halloween cookies with Pastry Chef Smiley.

A few minutes to the south in Paynes Bay, Tamarind offers the open-air 246 Bar & Restaurant, which boasts an idyllic position on the beachfront and features live music by the pool. The hotel’s outdoor Rilaks Lounge area serves an all day dining menu and cocktails on the deck in an outdoor living area evoking South Beach Miami. Evening events include themed Bajan and Pasta dinners and a special family Beach Experience on Sunday that features an afternoon lunch with steel pan music.

Elegant Hotels’ all-inclusive properties, Crystal Cove and Turtle Beach, each offer al fresco and formal dining options for guests. At night, Crystal Cove’s ever-changing buffet is themed and inspired by tastes from around the world, including Mexican, Spanish, Mediterranean and Bajan. On the lively south coast, Turtle Beach offers Zagat-rated cuisine in famed Italian restaurant Aiago’s.

Nestled close to Tamarind, The House and Daphne’s restaurant are not part of the dine around program, but provide another dimension to the culinary offerings from Elegant Hotels.  Sister to the renowned London restaurant, Daphne’s is a wonderful fine dining choice for guests of both properties, serving top Zagat-rated Italian cuisine in a spectacular beachfront location.  All guests receive a welcome drink and a BD$25 dining credit per person.

Marco Cromer started his career with Elegant Hotels in 2003 as executive chef of Daphne’s restaurant and has been responsible for ensuring guest satisfaction and management of his team.  In his new role as Senior Executive Chef he will report directly to CEO Howard Friedman, and assist all hotels with their culinary efforts.
