Sept. 27, 2011 - PRLog -- Findlay's unique approach provided in depth instruction on response to industrial and environmental incidents, together with the actual recovery issues and remediation tasks associated with accidents. Findlay's School of Environmental and Emergency Management (http://seem.findlay.edu) was among the initial instruction centers in America to implement this kind of comprehensive approach to OSHA industrial safety, environmental compliance and emergency response management.

Since that time, Findlay has supported the needs of Environmental Health and Safety technicians beyond industrial safety inspections and environmental remediation procedures to incident prevention and response management. By using only top-flight trainers and developing among the most innovative EHS training facilities in North America, SEEM established an ability to train private and public sector customers from an "all hazards" standpoint. This all hazards practice teaches not only technical analysis, procedures and equipment, but also threat assessment, response management and multi-agency coordination.

Acknowledging this all-encompassing approach to environmental, safety and security training, SEEM adopted the new name, The All Hazards Training Center. Today, 'Findlay All Hazards' offers over sixty adult-education training and certification programs, most of which are customized to the client's requirements and provided right at the customer's locations. While Findlay has one of the premier EHS undergraduate and graduate degree programs in the United States, The All Hazards Training Center readies 1000s of practicing professionals with the latest knowledge, assessment tools and hands-on exercises needed to accomplish their important part in safeguarding their community's health, safety and security.

On the other hand, the customer's requirement is not simply training. Findlay All Hazards also performs facility safety and threat assessments, emergency response plan development and live exercise planning and implementation. These expanded offerings include things like:

• Develop Emergency Operations Plans
• Disaster Preparedness Planning

The UF subject matter experts employ the all hazards approach for nearly all of the EHS, Security and Emergency Management topics. As an example, a preparedness plan can be developed for a chemical plant spill response or a transportation or handling spill.

Recently, the Findlay All Hazards Training Center Industrial Safety and Security subject matter experts have addressed an issue of urgent importance in nearly any work setting you can think of - the threat of workplace violence.

The Workplace Violence Prevention Training provided by Findlay (see http://workplace-violence-prevention-training.findlay.edu) is training courses and services meant to prevent harrassment, threats and physical violence against staff. What most people don't understand is workplace violence truly is preventable. It's preventable because the perpetrator of violence signals what they are going to do. Findlay All Hazards provides effective, custom training to help managers and safety/security specialists know what to look for when it comes to workplace violence and implement proactive actions to prevent acts of violence or harassment, rather than respond after the fact.

The UF taining team is even beginning to use interactive, scenario-based Violence Prevention Training. These video-based training programs help students cultivate abilities to cope with and de-escalate possibly unsafe events.
