OSHA Safety and Compliance Training for Industry Professionals

Recent government statistics show US organizations lose around 8.6 million man-hours a year to on-the-job accidents. That is the equivalent of four thousand workers receiving compensation but never working a single day.

Sept. 27, 2011 - PRLog -- The US Department of Labor maintains statistics for work-related health incidents on its website. The 2008 numbers, at the Bureau of Labor Statistic's website, reveal not just lost labor days, but the consequence of specific types of injuries. By way of example, there were over 220,000 back injuries that year. The most dreadful reported statistics are, of course, found under the column heading ‘fatalities’: And those are only the accidents and lost hours, days, and lives officially attributed to an unsafe work environment. No one can accurately say the number of industrial injuries go unreported. Incidents often go unreported because a business is basically not compliant. What's more, 2008 was a safer year than any of the five previous years. The Bureau reported fewer man-hours were lost in 2008 than in 2007.

The development of training on safety procedures and conformity with OSHA safety standards is a legacy of the Occupational Health and Safety Administration that has made it possible for employers to realize safer workplaces at acceptable costs. It an example of the adage "a little knowledge goes quite a distance." A recognized innovator in OSHA safety training is the University of Findlay's All Hazards Training Center, located in Findlay, Ohio. Findlay's knowledgeable teachers have given a mix of classroom, hands-on and live exercise training modules that employers find to be particularly effective. Visit http://seem.findlay.edu for complete details.

OSHA Safety training specialists from Findlay also train in Department of Transportation best practices and compliance for handling and transport of hazardous materials. Findlay's expert trainers often provide training in an on-line format for topics like the OSHA 30-hour General Industry Compliance requirement.

The Findlay team understands that businesses many times discover a conflict between those state or federal regulations that safeguard the environment and those intended to protect life and limb in the workplace when the various regulations are considered in the light of their own business functions. Findlay offers a large and versatile training staff who are experienced in identifying that unique ‘compliance zone’ where all OSHA safety regulations are understood and respected, while simultaneously satisfying the demands of other agencies and conducting business as expected by the company. This is explained fully in Findlay's dedicated OSHA Safety Training web site: http://osha-safety-training.findlay.edu.

One reason many businesses utilize Findlay for OSHA Safety and Compliance training is the fact that Findlay manages realistic simulation and training environments that effectively teach concepts and tactics in a safe, recoverable and repeatable way. One of Findlay’s two training locations is an expansive outdoor ‘disaster playground’ which includes rail cars, tanker trucks, and working pipe racks Another facility, under roof, provides an opportunity for training in confined space entry, decontamination, and safe containment practices.

Possibly the greatest testament to Findlay's expertise in OSHA Safety and Compliance training, plus leadership in Environmental, Hazardous Waste/HAZWOPER training (see http://emergency-response-hazwoper-training.findlay.edu) and School Campus and Workplace Safety and Security training are the shear numbers for its training conducted in 2010:
 - over 530 courses
 - to more than 11,300 students
 - at 296 locations.
