The Food Bank for Westchester, which has been fighting hunger for more than 20 years, will host “An Evening in Good Taste” To End Childhood Hunger on Thursday, October 20, 2011 from 6–9 pm at 1133 Westchester Avenue, White Plains.

PRLog - Sep. 27, 2011 - The 21st Annual “An Evening in Good Taste” To End Childhood Hunger will be hosted by the Food Bank for Westchester on Thursday, October 20, 2011 from 6–9 pm. The event will take place at 1133 Westchester Avenue, White Plains. All funds raised at the event will help the Food Bank fight childhood hunger in Westchester.

Tickets cost $175 in advance and $200 at the door. Reservations can be made online at www.foodbankforwestchester.org or by calling the Food Bank at (914) 923-1100.

Sponsorships and donations enable the Food Bank to hold this much-anticipated annual event. Supporters include RPW Group as Host Sponsor and Entergy as the Master Chef. Additional support comes from MBIA Foundation, AllStar Marketing Group, Bleakley Platt & Schmidt, Capital One Bank, Greenfield Stein & Senior, Diversified Investment Advisors, Kraft Foods and Reckson Division of SL Green. Sponsorships are available; for information contact Katy Coppinger at (914) 923-1100 or katy.coppinger@foodbankforwestchester.org.

Based on the 2009 U.S. Census, more than 95,320 Westchester residents, about 10% of the population, are not sure where their next meal is coming from. Of that population, 33%, or approximately 33,000, are children. Hunger can permanently affect the development of a child’s mental, emotional, physical and/or social skills necessary for work and career in adulthood. Children who are hungry are more susceptible to illnesses and hospitalization than children who are not hungry.

“For every dollar donated to the Food Bank, we can purchase $4 worth of nutritious food to feed a hungry child. Every donation helps,” said Christina Rohatynskyj, Executive Director for the Food Bank for Westchester. “This annual event is critical in helping support the fight against childhood hunger here.”
