Sept. 27, 2011 - PRLog -- (Atlanta, GA – EnviGlobal.com)  DeKalb County Commissioner and Faith Leader, Lee May, is bringing two of the nation’s major hot buttons to the forefront in his new book, “My God, My Politics: A Discussion on Faith and Politics” (www.myGodmyPolitics.com).   In celebration of his new release, May hosted launches for the book around the Atlanta metro area and garnered the support of elected officials, ministry leaders and citizens.

On Thursday, September 15, 2011, Lee May engaged with a few of his personal friends and associates to introduce My God, My Politics at the Commerce Club in downtown Atlanta.  Among the guests, Congressman John Lewis and Dr. Samuel Chand spoke in praise of the book, as well as the work May has done in ministry and as an elected official.  However, it was of an imperative nature for May to engage his home county with a community book launch on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at the Mall at Stonecrest.  Supporters gathered as May and nationally-recognized Elder Bernice King engaged in interactive dialogue about the topic nature of the book, why May thought it was important to explore these controversial issues in his first book, and the activism and ministry engagement of her father, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  DeKalb County government officials in attendance were District Attorney Robert James, Commissioner Larry Johnson, and school board member, Jay Cunningham. Both launches were sponsored by Envision Global Corporation and BlaqueBook Concierge Services.

“I am overjoyed with the response to my book.  I pray that it truly sparks a national discussion about the topic of faith and politics in our Democracy,” comments May.

In My God, My Politics, Lee May has superbly built a bridge from faith to politics.  No longer will people of faith allow the world to tell them that their faith has no place in the public square.  This book dispels the myth that your faith cannot inform your politics.  Understanding faith and politics can be a risky proposition in and of itself.  Engaging the two worlds together can be an almost impossible task, but May knows a thing or two about faith and politics. As an ordained elder and an elected official, Lee May is well positioned to fill the void between these two aspects of life.

My God, My Politics is available online at www.myGodmyPolitics.com and Amazon.

What people are saying about My God, My Politics:

“I was born and raised in the world’s largest secular democracy—India. This democracy, while secular, was really based on India’s primary religions. The church in India, though not directly involved in politics, voted and prayed for the pro-Christian party to win. It was not until I came to the USA in 1973 that I began to understand what Lee May unpacks in My God, My Politics. The book you now hold in your hands encourages you to allow your faith to inform your politics. Lee May takes a bibliocentric approach to guide our political thoughts and processes. A much-needed book that is sure to remove confusion and provide Kingdom order.”
- Dr. Samuel Chand
Author, Leadership Consultant

“We are at a critical time in the history as a nation. Many would agree that the needs of our nation demand a government for and by the people. Lee May, who is both minister and politician, writes a must-read book that helps us understand how important it is for us not to shy away but to get involved. The genius of this book is that it teaches us how our faith can be the compulsion and the compass for our involvement.”
- Dr. Cynthia L. Hale
Senior Pastor, Ray of Hope Christian Church

“Lee May gives greater clarity and understanding around the debate about separation of Church and State. He moves beyond religious talk and gets to the heart beat of what should be at the center of our politics—which is our faith. This book is an intriguing, enlightening, and practical guide for those who wish to utilize their faith to shape their politics. Finally, an informative and compelling book that convinces you that your faith should always lead the way.  A must-read for people of all faiths.”
