In the week leading up to the event, it became apparent that one of the speakers was not able to attend, and Ruth was asked to stand in and talk about Joomla! Security on the Administrators line – aimed at people who are running or managing Joomla! sites. With over 20 delegates attending the session, Ruth covered some key areas such as hiding your Administrators portal, changing your database prefix, checking for correct file and folder permissions, and of course making sure you take regular backups.
Ruth was also asked to step in to cover another session on the Sunday – which was a more informal ‘break out’ style – on the popular Content Construction Kit K2, which Virya Technologies uses on several news based website portals.
Both presentations will be available via http://www.joomladayuk2011.org and you may even be lucky enough to watch Ruth in action when the video of the Security session is released!
We would encourage anyone interested in Joomla! to come along to Joomla!Day events in your region – they are a fantastic way of networking with other Joomla! users, developers, designers – and of course getting to know about the future direction of the project and picking the brains of experts!
