The R H Forschner by Victorinox 40520 Chef's Knife features an 8-inch blade that is 2-inches wide at the handle. High carbon, stainless steel blade is hand finished at Victorinox in Switzerland by skilled craftsmen. A special tempering process is used to produce an edge that can be resharpened over and over again, so the knife can keep its original sharpness throughout the entire life of the blade.

The reviews for this Knife are decently old (5 years or so) so I though I should write a small review as I have been using this knife for past many months.
I bought this knife after reading reviews on Amazon. As usual very good delivery service. Was on time and in great condition.

About the knife -
All I can say is that this knife will make a big difference in your cooking at home. It is extremely sharp and helps to cut meat and vegetables with ease. I use it literally everyday as I like cooking and it has never let me down.
Since it is very sharp, please make sure kids don't play with it. I am decently careful and skilled at using knives for cutting veggies but I have also cut my thumb with it. And the cuts are deep as it is very sharp :).

I am 100% sure this knife will last for a long time. No signs of damage or rust. Easy to clean. by the way I never use dishwasher for cleaning it. But again be careful while cleaning under tap. I will buy it again for sure and will highly recommend anyone looking for a quality kitchen knife.

This knife is such a value. I have always had a hard time accepting the high-prices on Wuesthoff or Henckel knives because I never felt the VALUE was worth it. Boy am I glad I held out for the Victorinox knife! This knife, also known as Forschner, is consistently sharp. Just a few swipes of the sharpening steel and its good as new again. I use this knife and a 6" every day. The handles are comfortable and do not get slippery when wet. They are practically the only knives I use. I wash and wipe dry after each use (NEVER put in the dishwasher). I think you'll be as pleased as I if you try this knife.

Someone had given me a knife set and the chef's knife became dull and sharpening it did not help. So after hearing the reviews on America's Test Kitchen I bought this knife. This is an amazing knife for the price. It feels nice in the hand and is super sharp. This knife is sharper than the old knife ever was brand new. Makes dicing onions a snap. I love this knife! Now I want all my knives to be this sharp. I bought it on Amazon.
