Bedford Lodge Hotel is a blooming winner

Sept. 23, 2011 - PRLog -- The three acres of rose gardens at the Bury Road hotel, tended by Geoff Baker and Geoff Ives, were chosen ahead of stiff competition by the judging panel.

General Manager Noel Byrne said: “The two Geoffs both work tirelessly in making the gardens look magnificent all year round.  We are very proud of them and are so glad that their hard work has been recognised by the Newmarket in Bloom judges for the second time.”

Newmarket town councillor Warwick Hirst, who chairs the In Bloom committee, said: “The  Best Hotel category is always one of the most competitive.  Bedford Lodge was chosen as winner because an awful lot of work goes into the gardens, with a great deal of technical ability present in the flowers.”

The award comes hot on the heels of the announcement that Bedford Lodge has been named as a finalist in the Suffolk Tourism Awards.  The winner of the Best Large Hotel category will be announced at a ceremony in Ipswich next week.

Mr Byrne added: “This year has been very positive for Bedford Lodge.  We’ve also just announced a £1.5 million expansion programme which will lead to at least 25 new jobs for Newmarket.”

As well as its 55 luxury bedrooms, the four-star Bedford Lodge also provides wedding and conference facilities, as well as a two AA rosette restaurant and a health club.
